Walk around the Butgenbach lake - Rund um den See
We had recently come by here in Butgenbach. This time we'd go for the tour around the lake. It'd had been 10 years since we walked all around the lake and somehow I had a vivid memory of the "long" walk back then. I crossed my fingers the children would hold up for this distance, but lately we've done more of these longer walks successfully.
With only 3 weeks difference, a zone west of the Worriken sports and vacation center had been clearcut giving a much clearer view on the lake from nearby the RAVeL.
We toured counterclockwise, starting off at the Worriken parking lot to the Warche entry we saw last time , and return eastwards on the northside of the lake.

The children found some more rocks and insisted in posing a little more, now they got the hang of it.
The children climbed, hopped through the woods and I feared they wouldn't keep up that energy. I hushed them to relax more , all in vain. And sure enough, Beertje soon tripped for the third time, this time with a lot of tears but still no blood.
Fortunately there are multiple creeks to enter the lake among other the Holzwarche, another sideriver . That means that there is wooden boardwalks at the marshy creek entries and bridges. We love boardwalks and bridges!! Woohoo, all tears are forgotten if there are boardwalks and bridges ;). Even if each new creek meets a (mini) lake inlet that we need to walk around and more distance than you'd anticipate.
Much overdue we found an empty bench to rest and have our promised halfway cookie after the bench at km 5 and 6 had been occupied.
Then we were in a straight line in the direction of the power dam in the west of the lake in a more boring landscape ...but with all of a sudden an abundance of benches to rest with view of Worriken across the lake.
At the dam we profited from an open café terrace for another pause and drink, although I would have enjoyed a drink in the lake/RAVeL hotels further on the south side a bit more since I was far less motivated to continue to walk after this break ;).
And hup hup, we tackled those last kilometers back to Worriken on the southside along the RAVeL road which we've already biked a couple of times and along Worriken's massive campground. And right at 10 kms we ticked off our walk back at our car.
