Visiting Clervaux
I spent a part of the Easter vacation alone with the boys in the east of Belgium and unlike most of the time, I felt to take the car and do an excursion all of a sudden.
I remembered Clervaux in the north of Luxemburg all of a sudden, which I visited with Jan probably about 15 years ago. In my mind it was a small pittoresque town at first sight but a bit disappointing if you really want to visit because its lack of size. Or we didn't have the time to visit or so, but there was a memory of disappointment. I can't even find it mentioned on my blog so it was not worthwile a post.
But this time I wanted to roadtrip with the boys again and in my mind I made an intinerary to the abbey of Clervaux (L) and a return via the abbey of PrĂ¼m (D) in a nice little loop around the 3 countries in the east.
We took our time to leave at ease in the morning...it was vacation after all. With a short stop at the shopping center at the border line, we arrived at the town at noon. Two hangry boys wanted to have lunch first. With a full stomach I convinced them to climb to the abbey on top of the hill but there was not much to see there as it wasn't accessible. Ooops. Oh well, we had a lovely and demanding walk in the sun and the descend back to the village and its castle was smooth with the promise of another drink downtown. With our lunch in the bistro and a snack in the bakery, we've probably tested half of the existing horeca in the village. So yeah, the village is tiny. But with the sun we enjoyed our couple of hours here anyhow.

Our tired feed and the late hour made us decide not to do the detour via Germany but return home directly. It was a good day though that I enjoyed.
