One last time snow in the east of Belgium?

There was 10cm snow again at the Botrange this weekend but these pictures date from the Spring break in the 2nd half of February.  We had cancelled our plans to drive to Kassel in Germany among other because of the snowy weather conditions.  Instead we trained to Luxemburg.
Upon our return there was still some snow left at the heighest points of Belgium and you never know if it'll be the last time or not.  The climate there has on average 60 snowdays per year but it's variable and declining.  We've had snow there after Easter but after February is quite rare nevertheless.

All February I had this tention to "profit to the fullest" of those last weeks I benefitted a company car.  So back at home, I decided to go once more on my own to the snow for 24h just before the children returned from their Kazou camps.  For the 2nd time that week I left Jan behind.

The snow level had been up to 40cm at the start of that week but was melting rapidly with the gorgeous spring weather on its way.

I woke up with the typical melting fog that fills the valleys when the temperatures rise above zero and melt the snow away.  It gives the landscape a heavy sad feeling.

Carefull under the roofside.  "Falling ice" they'd warn with signs in Canada

With snow outside I find the late Christmas tree very appropriate.  It's not like I see it all the time like in Leuven where it needs to go much earlier.  Nevertheless I knew we'd get visitors by the end of February so out of social shame I took it down anyhow before leaving again. That's nicely earlier than previous year where we had to do so just before Easter.   After all the weather predicted full spring vibes by the end of the month, so it felt the right moment then.
